About
MY BACKGROUND
Hello, and welcome to my site! I'm a graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. I'm currently an Office Assistant at a New York City-based interior design firm, Ashley Whittaker Design. I've held editorial roles at the award-winning student-run newspaper, The Ithacan, Hudson Valley magazine, Life in the Finger Lakes, Southern Living and Real Simple through the ASME Internship Program.
My Work
After graduating from Ithaca College I began working as an Editorial Assistant for Hudson Valley magazine. My responsibilities included community outreach, research, writing, and editing. My greatest responsibility here was to train and mentor our college interns. I previously served as an editorial intern then freelance editor and writer at the magazine.
I worked at The Ithacan, the award-winning student-run newspaper at Ithaca College, during all four years of school. I began my freshman year as a staff writer and beat reporter for faculty council. During the fall of my sophomore year, I served as the Assistant News Editor, and then switched over to the Life and Culture Editor role for the spring semester.
I spent the summer going into my senior year as an ASME Editorial Intern with Real Simple magazine. I worked with the home team on projects like the Real Simple Home and the annual gift guide. I was also able to work with editors to write for sections like The Realist and Organize This.
During fall 2019, I worked as an editorial intern with Life in the Finger Lakes magazine. I was in charge of producing a weekly blog that connected a range of topics to the Finger Lakes region. I also wrote monthly music round-ups that appeared in the print edition, as well as some additional reporting.

WKNO RADIO
During the spring of my sophomore year, the Journalism Department at Ithaca College sent 12 students and four professors to work with NPR Memphis affiliate to cover the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Assasination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We created radio and web pieces covering the MLK50 events happening throughout the week. The story I produced about the bell commemoration ceremony was the most listened to spot feature of the week's events.
PAST DEADLINE
This semester I am the host of a podcast run by our student newspaper. It takes a look at the reporting methods behind a big story of the week.
ASSISTANT PRODUCER
During the fall of my sophomore year, I worked as an assistant producer for ICTV's Bombers Live, which broadcasts all the home football games. As an AP I was in charge of making graphics and cutting video for the live broadcast.

This semester I work as an AP for ICTV Reports and Newswatch. For ICTV Reports I assist correspondents with research, interviews and packages. For Newswatch I write stories for the anchors in ENPS.
